Fes to Host the 4th International Conference on Thoracic Oncology: A Vital Step in Lung Cancer Research

Fes Prepares for the 4th International Conference on Thoracic Oncology

The historic city of Fes, Morocco, is set to welcome an esteemed gathering of medical professionals and experts on November 6 and 7 for the 4th International Conference on Thoracic Oncology. This significant event aims to address the critical issues surrounding lung cancer, which is one of the most lethal forms of cancer globally. The conference will focus on enhancing access to treatment and advancing scientific research in this vital area.

Organized by the Shifa Association for Cancer Prevention and Research in collaboration with the International Francophone Group for Thoracic Cancers (IFCT), the conference aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and showcase the latest medical advancements in diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. Professor Noufel Mlass, head of the oncology department at Hassan II University Hospital in Fes and president of the Shifa Association, emphasized the importance of this conference in strengthening the fight against lung cancer and fostering scientific cooperation between Moroccan specialists and their Francophone counterparts.

The conference program will feature various scientific workshops, notably a session titled "Prioritizing Access to Treatment," which will explore strategies to ensure equity in healthcare services—a crucial aspect of reforming the national health system. Furthermore, the conference will announce the establishment of the Moroccan Joint Group of Thoracic Oncologists, aimed at unifying the efforts of specialists, encouraging scientific research, and formulating national recommendations to enhance the diagnosis and management of lung cancer patients.

This important gathering strives to transform scientific discussions into actionable proposals that will contribute to the development of thoracic oncology treatments and improve patient access to more equitable and high-quality healthcare.
