Artificial intelligence and advanced intelligent systems are revolutionizing the global economy, presenting both challenges and opportunities for industries worldwide. According to the Minister of Industry, Commerce, Investment, and Economic Inclusion, AI, the Internet of Things, and intelligent systems are essential tools for optimizing resource use, enhancing energy efficiency, and reducing the carbon footprint of industrial activities. This underscores the critical need to bridge the gap between scientific research and the business world by leveraging the expertise of researchers, experts, and emerging talents to navigate the evolving industrial landscape.
Mostafa Ezziyyani, the president of the organizing committee, highlighted the impressive journey of the AI2SD conference, which has seen over 2,500 academic participants and the publication of more than 25 scientific works since its inception. These achievements reflect the growing influence of the conference and its contributions to international scientific exchanges.
Furthermore, the participation of Jordan and Oman aims to showcase the academic competencies and technological experiences of these nations, reinforcing the importance of international collaboration in advancing knowledge and innovation.
Amidst these advancements, ethical concerns, equity, inclusion, and technological sovereignty have emerged as pivotal topics. Ismaïl Kassou, the Vice President of Mohammed V University in Rabat, emphasized the universities' responsibility to cultivate skills, drive scientific research, and mobilize knowledge for societal benefit. The conference dedicates several panels to discuss AI governance, legal frameworks, cybersecurity, and the impacts of AI on employment and leadership in the modern era.
As the conference unfolds, it promises to be a platform for significant discussions that could shape the future of AI and sustainable development, aligning Morocco's technological ambitions with global trends.
