Axa Gains Regulatory Approval for Employee Share Program in Morocco
Axa has successfully obtained regulatory approval in Morocco for a unique stock issue designated solely for its employees, following the endorsement of the final prospectus by the Moroccan capital markets authority, AMMC, on Tuesday. This significant offering encompasses a maximum of 58,951,965 shares, marking a pivotal step for Axa in fostering employee engagement and ownership within the company. However, it is important to note that while the approval for the prospectus has been granted, there have been no reports of a completed issuance as of yet.
The subscription window for this employee stock option in Morocco was open from Wednesday through Thursday. The AMMC's approval specifically pertains to the staff program, for which Axa had already set the purchase prices on October 30. Employees participating under the Classic option of the Shareplan 2026 will be able to acquire shares at EUR 33.86 each, while those opting for the Guarantee Plus variant will pay EUR 39.75 per share. This dual pricing structure highlights the differentiated value offerings within the program, although the total share count indicates the maximum size of the authorized issuance. Axa has designated EUR 42.31 as the reference price for this initiative, further emphasizing its strategic planning in employee investment.
Axa UK Engages in Pool Re Scheme for SMEs
In a separate development, Axa UK has joined Pool Re's incentive program, specifically targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The insurer announced on Wednesday that standard terrorism cover will be included in selected digital insurance products tailored for this customer segment. This initiative remains exclusive to the UK branch of Axa and signifies the company's commitment to enhancing security measures in the digital insurance landscape for SMEs.
On the financial front, Axa has also announced the successful placement of EUR 750 million in subordinated Tier 2 notes with institutional investors. These securities are set to mature in 2057, with proceeds earmarked for general corporate purposes, including the refinancing of a portion of the group's outstanding debt. The settlement for this placement was anticipated to occur yesterday, showcasing Axa's proactive approach to managing its capital structure.
Furthermore, the operational performance for Axa continues to show strength, as evidenced by the group's report on October 29, which indicated gross written premiums and other revenues amounting to EUR 93.0 billion for the first nine months of 2026. This figure represents a commendable 5% increase on a comparable basis. Notably, property and casualty premiums rose by 3% to EUR 48.1 billion, while life and health insurance premiums surged to EUR 44.8 billion, reflecting a 7% increase. Axa has reiterated its target for underlying earnings in 2026 to be around EUR 8.6 billion, with expectations for growth in underlying earnings per share positioned at the upper end of the 6–8% range, and an underlying return on equity projected to align with the upper end of the guided 14–16% corridor.
However, not all indicators have been bullish. BNP Paribas Wealth Management adjusted its price target for Axa from EUR 56 to EUR 50 on November 2, while maintaining its buy recommendation. Following this news, Axa's stock experienced a slight decline of 1.1% in Friday trading, closing at EUR 44.69. Investors are now left to assess the implications of the latest developments on Axa's market positioning and future performance.
