Amin Karam Takes Charge of Wydad Fassi for Two Seasons
In an exciting development for Moroccan football, Wydad Fassi has confirmed the appointment of Amin Karam as the head coach for the next two sporting seasons. The announcement was made by the club on Thursday, expressing hope that Karam will guide the team towards achieving their aspirations and bringing joy to their supporters. This strategic decision comes on the heels of the club's amicable separation from Portuguese coach Rui Almeida, whose tenure was marked by disappointing results that did not meet the management's expectations.
Karam’s initial task will be to rectify the team’s trajectory in the league, where they currently sit in seventh place with a total of eight points after six matches. Their recent performance includes a loss to Wydad Athletic Club of Temara, where they were narrowly defeated 1-0 at the Olympic Sports Complex in Rabat. This upcoming period will be crucial for Karam as he aims to bolster the team's performance and instill a winning mentality.
On the continental stage, Wydad Fassi will also be preparing for the 2026-2027 CAF Champions League, where they will represent Morocco alongside Nahdat Berkane. The group draw has placed them in Group D, which features tough competitors including Egypt's Pyramids FC, Sudan's Al-Hilal, and Guinea's Horoya Conakry. This upcoming challenge will test Karam's leadership and strategic acumen as he maneuvers the team through both local and international competitions.
