FUS Rabat Parts Ways with Coach Rui Almeida Amidst Disappointing Performance
In a significant shake-up for Moroccan football, FUS Rabat has announced the termination of its contract with Portuguese coach Rui Almeida due to a series of poor results. The decision comes after the team failed to secure a single victory in their last four encounters, prompting the club's management to reassess their leadership strategy on the field. The official statement from FUS Rabat expressed gratitude towards Almeida for his contributions during his tenure, wishing him success in his future endeavors.
Currently, FUS Rabat finds itself in a competitive group in the CAF Champions League alongside strong contenders such as Pyramids FC, Al-Hilal of Sudan, and Horoya AC from Guinea. The team's recent performances have raised concerns among fans and management alike, especially considering their previous success in the Moroccan league, where they clinched the title last season.
Further complicating the coaching situation, FUS Rabat had been in negotiations with former Pyramids coach Krunoslav Jurcic. However, discussions have reached an impasse due to the Croatian coach's high financial demands, reportedly seeking a monthly salary close to $125,000 for his coaching staff. Despite several rounds of negotiations aimed at reaching a mutually agreeable solution, the financial discrepancies have ultimately stalled the potential appointment.
In light of this development, FUS Rabat is now exploring alternative candidates, including South African coach Fadlu Davis, who previously managed Raja Casablanca. The club's management is keen on making a swift decision to stabilize the team and regain their competitive edge in both domestic and continental competitions.
