Major Arrest in Ouled Teïma Linked to International Crime
In a significant operation, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced the arrest of a 25-year-old French national of Malian descent in Ouled Teïma, a town located in central Morocco, on November 7, 2023. The individual was sought by French authorities for a serious charge involving a firearm-related murder and had been flagged by Interpol, the International Criminal Police Organization. This operation highlights Morocco's continued commitment to international cooperation in law enforcement and the effective tracking of wanted criminals.
The arrest was executed around 2 AM by investigators from the Prefectural Judicial Police of Agadir, with assistance from local police in Ouled Teïma. This coordinated effort followed precise information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), Morocco's internal intelligence agency. Upon checking the suspect's identity against security databases, authorities confirmed that he was subject to an Interpol Red Notice, which mandates the dissemination of search requests internationally in response to a warrant issued by French justice in connection with the murder case.
Allegations of Drug-Related Homicide
The suspect is believed to have played a role in a shooting incident that occurred on September 6 in France, reportedly linked to illicit drug trafficking and psychotropic substances. Following his arrest, the individual was placed in custody under the instruction of the competent prosecutor's office to facilitate judicial inquiries. This step is essential for the necessary procedures related to extradition through international cooperation channels.
The DGSN emphasized that this arrest is part of ongoing joint operations involving its services and the DGST to combat cross-border crime in all its forms. They articulated that this case exemplifies the unwavering commitment of Moroccan security services to pursue and apprehend individuals wanted by international justice.
