Morocco to Receive 35 U.S. Armored Vehicles Worth Over $41 Million by 2026

Significant Military Export to Morocco

In a notable development for Morocco's defense capabilities, the United States is preparing to export 35 non-tracked armored combat vehicles to the North African nation, with the first shipments scheduled to commence between January and July 2026. The total value of this significant military export is estimated at $41.54 million (405.32 million dirhams), and the vehicles will weigh approximately 652.07 tons upon arrival. These armored units are being transported from the port of Savannah, Georgia, under the supervision of the U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), which is responsible for export controls. The vehicles fall under the Schedule B code 8710.00.0060, designated for motorized armored combat vehicles that may or may not be equipped with weapons.

The export process will feature a detailed tracking system, with shipments reported to include an initial delivery of five vehicles in January valued at $5.93 million (57.9 million dirhams) and weighing 92.99 tons. This will be followed by three additional shipments of ten vehicles each in March, May, and July, each valued at $11.87 million (115.81 million dirhams) and weighing 186.36 tons. Interestingly, each vehicle is declared at a consistent value of $1.19 million (11.58 million dirhams), and the monthly shipment totals reflect exact multiples of this amount.

Background on U.S.-Morocco Military Cooperation

The export of these armored vehicles is part of an ongoing military cooperation between the United States and Morocco, which has seen a significant increase in U.S. defense exports over the past year. According to records from the U.S. Census Bureau, previous shipments of similar vehicles occurred in late 2025, including five vehicles dispatched in October and another five in November, both valued similarly to the upcoming shipment. In total, this series from Savannah will account for at least 45 armored units, amounting to approximately $53.4 million (521.12 million dirhams) and 840.7 tons, highlighting the robust trade relationship between the two countries.

Additionally, the state of Wisconsin has emerged as a key player in facilitating these exports, housing military vehicle manufacturer Oshkosh Defense, which has also been involved in direct sales of military tractors to the Royal Armed Forces of Morocco (FAR). The latest quarterly export control filings have classified the July shipment under ECCN 0A606, which covers military-use vehicles, alongside a unique BIS license for this transaction, ensuring compliance with U.S. regulations.

This increase in military export activity not only signifies a strengthening of Morocco's defense posture but also reflects the broader strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States, as both nations work together to address regional security challenges.
