Marrakech Authorities Capture Fugitive Linked to Drug Crime

In a significant operation conducted on November 2, 2026, the police in Marrakech, in close collaboration with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, successfully apprehended a 21-year-old Portuguese national residing illegally in Morocco. This arrest was made based on credible intelligence that identified him as a suspect in a serious criminal case in France, for which an international arrest warrant had been issued by French judicial authorities.

The arrest operation revealed that the suspect was on Interpol’s wanted list due to his alleged involvement in heinous crimes, including premeditated murder and forming a criminal gang, alongside illegal possession and transportation of firearms. Initial investigations indicate that this individual, along with accomplices, is implicated in the murder of a person in December 2025 in Bordeaux, France, amidst ongoing conflicts believed to be linked to drug trafficking networks.

Following his arrest, the suspect was subjected to extradition procedures as per the directives of the competent public prosecutor. The National Central Bureau of Interpol in Rabat promptly notified their French counterparts about the arrest, paving the way for the continuation of legal procedures in accordance with international law.

This operation underscores Morocco's commitment to international cooperation in combating transnational crime and enhancing coordination among security and judicial bodies to track down fugitives wanted for serious offenses.
