FIFA Inspectors to Evaluate Camp Nou Ahead of 2030 World Cup in Morocco and Spain

FIFA Representatives Set to Inspect Camp Nou for 2030 World Cup Preparations

In an exciting development for football fans in Morocco and beyond, representatives from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) are scheduled to arrive at the iconic Spotify Camp Nou stadium this Monday. This visit is part of the preparations for the highly anticipated 2030 World Cup, which Morocco is co-hosting with Portugal and Spain. According to reports from the Spanish daily Sport, both the Spanish Football Federation and FC Barcelona are eager to receive positive assessments regarding the state of the Camp Nou facilities, which is considered one of the jewels of the upcoming tournament.

Following their inspection of the Camp Nou, the FIFA delegation is set to visit the RCDE Stadium, home of Espanyol, on Tuesday. The Camp Nou has ambitious aspirations to host the final match of the tournament, a goal that was publicly endorsed during a recent event held in Barcelona. The Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, has expressed a strong desire to secure the hosting rights for the decisive match, backed by FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta, Catalonia's Minister of Sports Berni Álvarez, and Joan Soteras, the President of the Catalan Football Federation.

Support for this initiative has also been voiced by Rafael Louzán, President of the Spanish Football Federation, who reiterated his hope that the final match will be held in Spain, whether at the Spotify Camp Nou or the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Meanwhile, Morocco is ramping up its efforts to achieve the same goal, furthering its bid in collaboration with Portugal.

Although Morocco plans to rely on the Hassan II Stadium, which boasts a capacity of 115,000 spectators, Spain remains confident that FIFA will award the honor of hosting the final to one of its prestigious venues, which include the Spotify Camp Nou and the Santiago Bernabéu, both of which have undergone significant renovations and development over the years. However, the decision regarding the final host venue will not be finalized until 2027 or 2028, leaving plenty of room for developments in the lead-up to the event.
