DGSN Delegation Visits Injured Agadir Police Officer
A high-level delegation from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has visited the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Agadir to support a police officer who was deliberately struck by a motorist while on duty. The delegation included prominent figures such as the police prefect of Agadir, the director of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Social Works of National Security Officers, the inspector of national security health services, and several officials from the DGSN's human resources department.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the police officer's health and to understand the therapeutic protocol being followed by the medical team. The DGSN expressed relief regarding the officer's health stability and rapid response to treatment, despite the severe injuries sustained during the attack. This incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by law enforcement officers in Morocco as they work to maintain public safety.
This visit was made under the direct instruction of Abdellatif Hammouchi, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that all necessary medical care is provided to the injured officer, alongside comprehensive support from the authorities. In a show of recognition for the officer's dedication and sacrifices in the line of duty, Hammouchi has also promoted the injured officer to the rank of peace officer through an exceptional promotion.
The officer was the target of a deliberate homicide attempt by a reckless driver who, accompanied by two individuals under the influence of alcohol and drugs, refused to comply with the officer's orders and accelerated his vehicle towards him. The resulting impact caused the officer to suffer multiple fractures and severe injuries. The driver and his companions have since been arrested and are in custody as part of the judicial investigation ordered by the competent prosecutor's office.
