Victory for Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli in Rabat
The Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) 2026 season wrapped up in spectacular fashion in Rabat, Morocco, where Sweden's talented rider, Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli, showcased her exceptional skills by securing a triumphant victory aboard Iron Dames Calvino II de Nyze Z. This thrilling CSI5* 1.60m Grand Prix event featured a hefty prize pool of €612,100, and the stakes were particularly high as it offered the final ticket to the prestigious LGCT Super Grand Prix in Verona.
On this remarkable afternoon, Augustsson Zanotelli dazzled the audience with her impressive performance, producing a flawless jump-off round in an impressive time of 47.91 seconds. This stellar display set a formidable standard that remained unbeaten throughout the competition. The runner-up, Ireland's Denis Lynch, riding Cordial, finished just shy of the mark, delivering a commendable clear round in 48.02 seconds, only 0.11 seconds behind the victor. Completing the podium was Germany's Christian Ahlmann, who clocked the fastest jump-off time of 46.24 seconds aboard Untouched LB. However, an unfortunate rail penalty saw him finish third with a total of four faults.
Upon claiming the victory, a visibly emotional Augustsson Zanotelli expressed her gratitude and joy. "I am very overwhelmed. This is more than I expected today," she remarked. "I am so thankful to my horse, to the whole team, and to Deborah and the Iron Dames for giving me the opportunity to ride this amazing horse. It has been a long time since I last won a five-star Grand Prix, and to do it again here in Rabat is incredibly special. Our team is very special. We are incredibly close - it feels like family. From the team here to everyone at home in the stables and at Ashford Farm, I feel that this victory is shared by all of us."
As the season concluded, Belgium's Abdel Saïd emerged as the overall champion of the 2026 Longines Global Champions Tour standings with a total of 245 points. He was followed closely by Christian Ahlmann in second place with 240 points and Denis Lynch securing third place with 233 points.
