Discover Morocco: New Flight Routes and Winter Travel Tips for 2023

More Affordable Flights to Morocco: New Route from Krakow

Morocco is increasingly asserting its presence in the winter flight schedule from Poland, with both Ryanair and Wizz Air offering more travel options to this enchanting country than last winter. This season, travelers can enjoy a new direct flight route from Krakow to Rabat, joining existing connections to Agadir and Marrakech. This new addition allows passengers to visit the Moroccan capital without the need for layovers, making travel planning more seamless. Looking ahead to spring, Ryanair plans to introduce another route to Tangier from Krakow, further enhancing accessibility to this beautiful North African destination.

These changes in flight schedules are particularly significant for those who prefer to organize their trips independently, rather than relying on travel agencies. Morocco has long captivated tourists with its rich historical monuments, unique culture, and landscapes that are distinctly different from those found in Europe. Until now, however, the selection of direct flights from Poland has been somewhat limited. By late 2026, the increased number of connections will facilitate the planning of both short getaways to a single city and longer journeys across the country.

Ticket prices are indeed attractive, with direct flights from Poland to Morocco available starting from around 270 PLN. This price applies to the cheapest tickets on the Krakow-Rabat route for travel dates between November 7-10 and November 17-24 (as of October 30). It's worth noting that the flight duration is just over four hours, with some routes, such as from Gdansk, taking nearly five hours.

Reasonably priced tickets are also available for flights to Agadir and Marrakech. For Agadir, prices in November start at around 320 PLN, reaching up to 560 PLN depending on the departure airport, with the best deals being from Wroclaw and Gdansk, while flights from Warsaw are typically more expensive. Meanwhile, flights to Marrakech can be booked from Krakow or Wroclaw for approximately 330-350 PLN.

Choosing the Right City for Your Winter Getaway

Having visited Morocco twice, I can confidently say that each time felt like I was only scratching the surface of a country that cannot be encapsulated within a single tourist perspective. I wholeheartedly recommend this destination to those seeking fresh experiences without having to endure long hours on a plane traveling to the other side of the world.

For a first visit, Marrakech is an excellent choice. The historical heart of the city, known as the Medina, features a dense network of alleyways lined with artisan workshops, small shops, and bustling markets. The stunning historic architecture, adorned courtyards, and distinctive Moroccan design leave a lasting impression. It is advisable to book accommodation in this part of the city, as many of the key attractions are within walking distance. This allows visitors to explore Marrakech on foot, eliminating the need for frequent taxi rides or public transportation.

On the other hand, Agadir is more suited for those who prefer proximity to the ocean rather than extensive sightseeing. Located on Morocco's southwestern coast along the Atlantic Bay, Agadir is a popular resort known for its expansive beach and seaside promenade. The surrounding areas have long attracted surfers, with nearby towns such as Taghazout offering popular surf spots. The coastal conditions cater to both beginners and experienced surfers alike.

Rabat, as the capital and one of Morocco's royal cities, offers a distinct character appreciated by history and architecture enthusiasts. It serves as the administrative center of the country while boasting a rich heritage. Key landmarks include the Kasbah of the Udayas, Hassan Tower, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, with the historical part of Rabat designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Compared to Marrakech, Rabat provides a less intense experience, allowing visitors to take a more leisurely look at its architecture and the daily lives of its residents.

Winter in Morocco: Sunshine, the Ocean, and Exploration without Summer Heat

A winter trip to Morocco presents a unique opportunity to explore the country under different conditions than those encountered during summer vacations. In many places, the temperatures are conducive to long walks and sightseeing, which can be exhausting during the hottest months. However, it is essential to note that weather conditions vary across the country. Along the Atlantic coast, the climate is milder, but evenings can be chilly. In Marrakech, pleasant temperatures can be expected during the day, but warmer clothing will be needed after sunset.

Choosing the right city for your visit should depend on how you wish to spend your trip. Marrakech is ideal for those focused on sightseeing and immersing themselves in Moroccan culture, while Agadir is a perfect starting point for beach lovers, surfers, and those wishing to relax by the ocean. Rabat allows visitors to explore the capital, its historical sites, and a less resort-focused aspect of the country. With a longer stay, travelers can combine visits to several of these locations, utilizing train and bus connections to navigate between them.

The increase in flights from Poland makes planning a self-directed journey to Morocco more feasible than ever. Particularly, with the right timing, flight costs can remain low. However, before booking, it is advisable to compare prices across different routes, review baggage policies, and consider transportation from the airport. Only then can travelers determine the true cost of a winter getaway to North Africa.
