Marrakech Launches State-of-the-Art Center for Respiratory Disease Diagnosis

Marrakech Enhances Healthcare with a New Respiratory Disease Center

On November 2, 2026, the city of Marrakech officially opened a modern diagnostic center for tuberculosis and respiratory diseases, located in the historic district of «Riad El Moukhai». This inauguration coincided with the one-year anniversary of the National Unity Day, marking a significant step in improving healthcare services in the region. The center was established with an investment of approximately 3.4 million dirhams, which covered extensive renovations and the installation of the latest biomedical equipment, adhering to the royal directives aimed at strengthening primary healthcare systems and expanding social protection networks. The facility is designed to operate continuously throughout the week, ensuring that patients receive timely medical attention.

This reference center is poised to serve a vast population exceeding 400,000 inhabitants within the municipality, thereby addressing a critical need for specialized healthcare. Mohamed Oushak, the regional delegate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Marrakech, emphasized that this center plays a pivotal role in linking primary healthcare institutions with regional and university hospitals. This connection is vital for ensuring continuity of care in line with established medical standards.

The center is staffed by a comprehensive healthcare team led by a specialist in respiratory diseases, complemented by nursing, technical, and administrative personnel who work collaboratively to facilitate prompt patient referral and management. Through dedicated medical examinations and therapeutic services, the center aims to significantly enhance the quality of healthcare accessible to the local community.

Moreover, the establishment of this center is a strategic initiative to alleviate the overwhelming pressure currently faced by emergency departments and major healthcare institutions in the city, particularly the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center. By organizing treatment pathways and redirecting patient flows to this specialized facility, larger hospitals can concentrate on critical and urgent cases. This systematic approach is expected to enhance the overall efficiency of the healthcare system in the region, providing a more effective response to the healthcare needs of its citizens.
