New Visa Appointment System Launches at BLS International Center in Rabat, Morocco

Enhanced Visa Application Process in Rabat

In a significant development for prospective travelers, the BLS International center in Rabat, Morocco, has launched a newly streamlined appointment system for those applying for Spain visas. Announced in early November, this updated system aims to provide a more secure and efficient application process, thereby improving service quality while simultaneously mitigating risks of fraud, unauthorized bookings, and third-party interference. The BLS International center is dedicated to ensuring that applicants can navigate the visa application procedure with greater ease and reliability.

As part of this new initiative, BLS has emphasized the importance of submitting accurate personal information during the registration process. Applicants are advised that any discrepancies, such as incorrect or incomplete data, could lead to the rejection or cancellation of their appointments at the time of application submission. This change is particularly relevant for various groups eligible to apply without a pre-scheduled appointment, including those holding a Schengen visa issued within the past four years. This category encompasses not only the visa holders themselves but also their spouses and children under 18, who can apply Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Specific Groups and New Guidelines for Visa Applicants

Furthermore, the BLS center has outlined specific procedures for different categories of applicants. Individuals accompanying or joining citizens from the European Union, the European Economic Area, and Switzerland may also apply without an appointment during a designated time frame from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. In addition, university students pursuing various educational paths, including those enrolled in public and private institutions, as well as participants in exchange programs, benefit from a dedicated application window running Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Applicants aiming to pursue non-university studies, such as language courses or vocational training, are required to meet certain conditions. Those who have obtained a Spanish-issued Schengen visa within the last four years may submit their applications directly without an appointment. For these applicants, BLS has also introduced an exclusive online application line, opening every Tuesday at 5 p.m. This online service offers additional slots, facilitating access for holders of Schengen visas issued since 2023, who can apply individually every Wednesday at 4 p.m.

In its efforts to counter misinformation circulating on social media, BLS has clarified that claims regarding the availability of urgent appointments without prior booking are unfounded. Language students will not receive preferential treatment and must secure an appointment, whereas university students may attend without one. Additionally, it is crucial for applicants to ensure that their passports fall under the jurisdiction of the Rabat consular district, as national ID cards alone are insufficient for those with passports from other jurisdictions.

For those requiring document handling services, BLS has implemented new requirements, which include presenting an original notarized power of attorney, legalized and translated into French or Spanish, alongside the necessary receipts and copies of national ID cards. Importantly, passport collection cannot be conducted by third parties, even with the appropriate documentation. New restrictions have also been instituted for minors, with children under 12 no longer permitted at the Rabat center, while children under 6 are exempt from needing an appointment.

BLS has reiterated that appointments must be booked exclusively through its official website, and its staff will never solicit cash or personal bank account payments. This initiative reflects BLS's commitment to ensuring a secure, transparent, and efficient visa application process for all Moroccan applicants seeking to travel to Spain.
