Marrakech Airport Sees Surge in International Flights with 798 Scheduled Arrivals in November 2026

Significant Growth in Flight Activity at Marrakech Airport

Marrakech Airport, known as Menara, is gearing up for a bustling week with 798 scheduled incoming flights and a total of 142,922 seats available during the period from November 2 to 8, 2026. This substantial influx underscores the importance of Marrakech's international air network, which predominantly centers around four key European markets: France, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy. Together, these four countries account for 503 of the total 746 international flights, representing an impressive 67.4% of all arrivals, as well as 92,004 out of 136,442 available seats, mirroring the same percentage of international capacity planned for this period. While France, the UK, and Spain continue to maintain their positions as leading sources of tourists for the city, Italy is gaining notable attention due to its remarkable growth in both the number of flights and available capacity.

Flight Trends and Market Analysis

The air transport dynamics towards Marrakech during this specified week showcase a slight increase in the number of flights, juxtaposed with a minor decrease in overall capacity. The flight schedule indicates 798 incoming flights, a modest increase of 2% from the 782 flights recorded during the same week in 2025. Conversely, the number of programmed seats has dipped from 145,761 to 142,922, reflecting a decrease of 1.9%. This trend illustrates a limited rise in the number of flights without a corresponding increase in total market capacity.

A detailed examination of the flight program for the week reveals the necessity to differentiate between international flights and domestic flights within Morocco. The Marrakech Menara Airport network connects 27 foreign countries, with Morocco serving as the destination for national flights. Out of the 798 scheduled flights, 746 are international, making up 93.5% of the total, while 52 are domestic, accounting for 6.5%. When compared to the same period in 2025, the number of international flights increased from 734 to 746, marking a 1.6% rise, although there was a slight reduction in capacity, which fell from 138,437 to 136,442 seats, a decrease of 1.4%. In contrast, domestic flights experienced a different trend, with an increase in flights from 48 to 52 (+8.3%), while the number of programmed seats decreased from 7,324 to 6,480 (-11.5%). This data highlights the significant weight of international flights within Marrakech's air program, demonstrating diverse developments between the international and national networks.

France emerges as the primary market for tourists heading to Marrakech, with 231 flights and 40,943 seats programmed, representing approximately 30% of the international capacity available for this week. In comparison to 2025, the number of flights increased slightly from 229 to 231, an uptick of 0.9%, while the number of seats decreased from 42,867 to 40,943, a decline of 4.5%. This development merits attention; despite the minimal rise in flights, the capacity offered in the leading market for this destination has seen a downturn. Nevertheless, France remains a cornerstone for international air connections to Marrakech, significantly outpacing other markets. This status is further supported by the multitude of French airports providing direct flights to the red city, notably Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Nantes, Bordeaux, and Beauvais.

The United Kingdom ranks second with 110 flights and 20,897 seats, making up about 14.8% of the total international flights and 15.3% of the programmed seats. The British market has experienced a slight decline compared to the same week in 2025, with the number of flights decreasing from 112 to 110 (-1.8%) and the number of seats dropping from 21,425 to 20,897 (-2.5%). Despite this limited decrease, the UK remains a strategic market for Marrakech, supported by a network of flights primarily originating from London airports and Manchester. London, in particular, serves as a major entry point with a total of 62 weekly flights from various airports mentioned in this report, emphasizing the pivotal role played by large airports in driving tourist flows to Marrakech.

Spain holds the third position with 92 incoming flights and 16,889 seats, representing 12.3% of the total international flights and 12.4% of the available capacity. Unlike France and the UK, this market has shown a slight positive development, as the number of flights rose from 91 to 92 (+1.1%), and the number of seats increased from 16,818 to 16,889 (+0.4%). Although minimal, this growth confirms the stability of air connectivity with Spain and its significance within Marrakech's air travel framework. Madrid stands out as the main Spanish air hub with 30 flights and 5,617 seats, followed by Barcelona with 20 flights and 3,685 seats, and Malaga with 14 flights and 2,529 seats. This variety of departure points enhances coverage across several Spanish regions that supply tourists, strengthening the air connection between the two countries.

Italy deserves special attention in this analysis. As the fourth largest international market for Marrakech, it has registered one of the most notable growth rates among the main tourist source countries. The number of flights increased from 66 in 2025 to 70 in 2026, marking a growth of 6.1%, while the number of programmed seats rose from 12,698 to 13,275, a 4.5% increase. With 70 flights and 13,275 seats, Italy now represents approximately 9.4% of the total international flights and 9.7% of its capacity. This achievement carries particular significance given that it occurred amid an overall decline of 1.4% in international capacity. Consequently, Italy is one of the markets contributing positively to enhancing Marrakech's air dynamics, both in terms of the number of flights and available seats. Milan serves as an important air platform with 23 flights and 4,384 seats, while Bergamo offers 12 flights and 2,169 seats. This development reflects a tangible enhancement in the air connection with the Italian market, warranting special attention in promotional and commercial development efforts for the destination.

Together, these four markets—France, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy—account for 503 flights out of 746 international flights, which equates to 67.4% of the total foreign flights, and 92,004 seats out of 136,442 available seats, reflecting the same percentage of programmed international capacity. In other words, more than two-thirds of the international air connectivity for Marrakech is centered on just four countries. This concentration presents an advantage considering the size of these markets and the regularity of their flights, yet it simultaneously highlights the destination's reliance on a limited number of tourist source markets. France alone constitutes nearly 30% of the international seats, followed by the UK at 15.3%, Spain at 12.4%, and Italy at 9.7%. Therefore, strengthening these four markets remains a critical factor in maintaining flight volumes and supporting tourism activity towards Marrakech.

This concentration is not only evident at the country level but also when analyzing the cities and airports from which flights to Marrakech originate. Paris, by a significant margin, stands out as the most important air hub for reaching the city. The total number of weekly flights from Paris Orly and Paris Charles de Gaulle airports is 92, accounting for 40% of all flights arriving from France and approximately 12.3% of all international flights. Paris Orly alone offers 56 flights and 10,092 seats, while Paris Charles de Gaulle sees 36 flights and 6,209 seats. Consequently, the total number of programmed seats through these two airports reaches 16,301. This concentration underscores the immense significance of the Paris region in fueling the French market, which ranks first among tourist source markets for Marrakech. It also highlights the importance of maintaining and enhancing capacity at these two airports, alongside the development of additional flights from other major French cities, which would contribute to diversifying access points to the destination.

The same phenomenon is observed in the United Kingdom, where 62 flights originate from London airports, including 31 from Gatwick and 16 from Stansted, along with additional British flights, including 20 from Manchester. In Spain, Madrid, Barcelona, and Malaga serve as the primary points of access, while Milan and Bergamo hold significant places within the Italian network. This organization of the air network indicates that Marrakech's air connectivity relies not only on the strength of the national tourist source markets but also on the concentration of flows around major airports and platforms. This raises the question of achieving a balance between enhancing major hub airports and diversifying direct flights from secondary cities.

Apart from these four markets, several other countries are registering positive developments worth noting. Flight numbers from Poland have risen by 66.7%, increasing from 6 to 10 flights, while the number of seats surged by 56.6%, from 1,242 to 1,945 seats. Ireland recorded a 37.5% increase in flights and a 30.5% increase in seats. Greece achieved a growth of 75% in flights and 69.4% in seats, while Sweden saw a 25% increase in flight numbers and a 19.7% rise in capacity. Portugal also experienced positive development, with an 11.1% increase in flights and a 7.2% increase in seats. These results indicate that some smaller markets possess promising potential for growth. Conversely, the Netherlands has seen a decrease of 6.7% in the number of flights and 9.3% in the number of seats, while flights from Belgium dropped by 3.7% and seats by 6.9%.

As for markets outside Europe, their contribution remains relatively limited. The total number of flights from these markets is 20, with 3,171 seats, compared to 726 flights and 133,271 seats from European markets. Canada maintains two flights, albeit with a 16.7% decline in capacity, while the United States retains seven flights, with a 4.8% reduction in seat numbers.
