Laprophan Expands Its Reach with Strategic Acquisition of Polymedic
In a significant development for Morocco's pharmaceutical landscape, Laprophan, a prominent pharmaceutical group based in Casablanca, has successfully acquired 100% of the shares in Corporate Investment Holding (CIH), the parent company of the well-established Moroccan laboratory, Polymedic. This acquisition, announced on October 21, 2026, marks a pivotal step in Laprophan's aggressive expansion strategy, which has seen the company make several key acquisitions over the past three years.
Law firm Asafo & Co, with a dedicated team located in Casablanca, provided legal advisory services to the shareholders of CIH throughout the transaction, led by partner Patrick Larrivé. Laprophan, which boasts over 1,300 marketing authorizations and four production bases across Morocco and Switzerland, aims to leverage this acquisition to further enhance its market presence and operational capabilities.
With the acquisition of CIH, Laprophan will not only broaden its portfolio but also gain access to Polymedic's 138 marketing authorizations and a diverse range of over 200 products that focus on 12 therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular health, dermatology, and central nervous system disorders. In addition, Laprophan has established itself as a commercial and industrial partner for several international pharmaceutical companies, including renowned names such as Leo, Aventis, and Bayer, solidifying its role in the Moroccan and broader African pharmaceutical markets.
Polymedic, which has been operational since 1964, is one of Morocco's longest-standing pharmaceutical laboratories. The company is known for its capability to develop, manufacture, and market a wide array of medical products from its 9,600 square meter facility located in Casablanca. This acquisition will enable Laprophan to tap into Polymedic's extensive experience and product range, thereby enriching its offerings to healthcare providers and patients across the nation.
The transaction is currently pending customary regulatory approvals, including the necessary clearance from the Moroccan Competition Council. As Laprophan continues to advance its strategic goals, this acquisition exemplifies its commitment to enhancing healthcare solutions in Morocco and beyond.
