Tough Group Stage Draws for Egyptian Football Clubs in African Competitions

The recent draw for the African club competitions has set the stage for intense battles among Egyptian clubs, with Al Ahly, Zamalek, and Pyramids FC all facing formidable opponents as they prepare for their respective campaigns. Zamalek finds itself in a particularly challenging position in the CAF Champions League, while Pyramids FC enters a competitive group, and Al Ahly gears up for its matches in the CAF Confederation Cup.

In the CAF Champions League, Zamalek has been placed in Group B alongside Tanzanian side Young Africans, Algerian club CR Belouizdad, and Tunisian team Africain. This group presents a significant challenge, requiring Zamalek to be well-prepared to secure their chances of progressing to the knockout stages. Zamalek's fixtures are set to kick off with a match against Africain in Cairo on November 27-29, followed by an away game against CR Belouizdad in Algeria on December 4-6. They will then host Young Africans on December 18-20 and travel to Tanzania for the return fixture on January 8-10, before concluding the group stage with a rematch against Africain in Tunisia on January 15-17 and against CR Belouizdad in Cairo on January 22-24.

Pyramids FC, the other Egyptian representative in the Champions League, has drawn a competitive Group D, facing Sudanese side Al Hilal, Guinean club Horia, and Moroccan team Hassania Agadir. Pyramids will commence their campaign with a home match against Hassania Agadir on November 27-28, before heading to Guinea to face Horia on December 4-5. They will return to Cairo to take on Al Hilal on December 18-19, before visiting Sudan for a rematch on January 8-9. Pyramids will then travel to Morocco to play Hassania Agadir again on January 15-16, concluding their group stage with a home match against Horia on January 22-23.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly prepares for its group stage in the CAF Confederation Cup, having been drawn into Group A. They will open their campaign with a match against Angolan side Primeiro de Agosto from November 27 to 29 in Cairo. Following this, they will travel to Togo to face ASKO de Kara from December 4 to 6, before returning home to host Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca between December 18-20. The return match against Raja will take place in Morocco on January 8-10, followed by another clash against Primeiro de Agosto in Angola on January 15-17, and concluding their group stage with a home match against ASKO de Kara on January 22-24.

As these clubs gear up for their African adventures, the stage is set for thrilling matches that will showcase the prowess of Egyptian football on an international platform.
