Security Operation in Fez Results in Major Drug Arrest
In a significant operation carried out by the anti-gang unit of the Fez police in collaboration with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), authorities successfully apprehended a 35-year-old man suspected of being involved in the trafficking of cocaine. This operation took place close to the city of Sefrou and has yielded noteworthy results, contributing to the ongoing fight against drug-related crimes in Morocco.
The suspect was already under investigation and was the subject of five national search warrants issued by the National Police Directorate. Following a methodical surveillance and tracking process, the police were able to pinpoint his location and execute his arrest. Upon searching the suspect’s vehicle, law enforcement officials discovered one kilogram of cocaine, alongside a substantial sum of money estimated at 30 million centimes, believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking activities. Additionally, two large firearms were seized during the operation, further highlighting the serious nature of the suspect's criminal undertakings.
The suspect has been placed under police custody following directives from the public prosecutor. This is part of a judicial inquiry aimed at uncovering all circumstances surrounding the case, including the source of the seized cocaine and potential connections to other individuals involved in similar criminal activities. This operation underscores the continuous efforts of Moroccan authorities to combat illegal drug trafficking and to track down individuals wanted on a national level, thus enhancing cooperation across various security and intelligence agencies.
