Morocco's National Office of Tourism Participates in London World Travel Market
The National Office of Tourism in Morocco (ONMT) is actively participating in the prestigious World Travel Market (WTM) in London from November 3 to 5, 2026. This event represents a significant opportunity for the Moroccan tourism sector to showcase its diverse offerings and solidify existing partnerships while exploring new commercial avenues. The Moroccan pavilion was officially inaugurated on November 3, with notable attendees including Hakim Hajoui, the Moroccan Ambassador to the United Kingdom, and Achraf Fayda, the General Director of ONMT.
This year, the ONMT has set up an impressive 850 square meter pavilion featuring 47 co-exhibitors, highlighting the collective efforts of Moroccan professionals aimed at tapping into the lucrative British market. The delegation encompasses a mix of major hotel chains, national and international groups, travel agencies, and specialists in business tourism, signifying a united front in promoting Moroccan tourism.
The participation of eight Regional Tourism Councils—covering regions such as Marrakech-Safi, Agadir Souss-Massa, Fès-Meknès, Casablanca-Settat, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Drâa-Tafilalet, Béni Mellal-Khénifra, and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab—further emphasizes the regional commitment to boosting tourism. Notably, Marrakech-Safi and Agadir Souss-Massa are being spotlighted as key destinations expected to attract significant interest from British travelers.
This strategic initiative comes at a time when the British market is witnessing robust growth, with Morocco having welcomed 995,663 British tourists by the end of August 2026—a 7% increase compared to the previous year, leading to nearly 3.4 million overnight stays. When accounting for travelers from Ireland, the total arrivals surge to 1,065,715 visitors, reflecting the region's burgeoning appeal.
The positive trend is bolstered by enhanced air connectivity, as eight airlines now serve twelve British airports connected to eight Moroccan destinations. For the summer of 2026 and winter 2026-2027 seasons, the scheduled seat capacity is projected to reach 1.97 million, marking an increase of 7% in availability.
Commercially, ONMT's alliances with tour operators, booking platforms, and distribution networks aim for a projected contractual target of 1,355,000 passengers, representing a 9% growth. The overarching goal of ONMT at the WTM is to leverage these promising performances to strengthen partnerships, explore new business opportunities, and enhance the visibility of Morocco's diverse destinations. This strategic focus aims to convert potential in the British market into increased market share, additional overnight stays, and economic benefits for various regions across the Kingdom of Morocco.
