Morocco Sees 58.4% Surge in Net Foreign Direct Investment Inflows by September End

Significant Increase in Foreign Direct Investment in Morocco

As Morocco continues to enhance its economic landscape, the net flow of foreign direct investment (FDI) has soared impressively, reaching more than 35.24 billion dirhams at the end of September 2026. This figure represents a remarkable year-on-year increase of 58.4%, as indicated in the latest report from the Foreign Exchange Office. This surge in FDI can be attributed to a rise in investment-related revenues while concurrently witnessing a decrease in corresponding expenditures.

According to the Foreign Exchange Office’s recent bulletin detailing monthly foreign trade indicators, the revenues generated from foreign direct investments exhibited a robust increase of 21.8%, totaling 53.44 billion dirhams. In contrast, related expenditures experienced a significant decline of 15.9%, settling at nearly 18.2 billion dirhams. This positive shift illustrates the growing confidence of foreign investors in the Moroccan market and the effectiveness of the country's economic policies aimed at attracting foreign capital.

Moreover, Moroccan direct investment abroad also showed an upward trajectory, standing at approximately 6.2 billion dirhams, which is an increase of 3.9 billion dirhams. Expenditures related to these investments surged by 43%, surpassing 19.13 billion dirhams, while revenues from divestments rose by 16.5%, reaching nearly 13 billion dirhams. This dual growth in both inbound and outbound investments underscores Morocco's strategic positioning as an attractive destination for investors and its expanding economic footprint globally.
