Marrakech's 'Moul Lhout' Sentenced to Six Months in Prison and Fined 50,000 DH

Marrakech Court Sentences 'Moul Lhout' for Controversial Remarks

On November 4, 2026, the Court of First Instance in Marrakech delivered a verdict against Abdelilah El Hajout, popularly known as "Moul Lhout" on social media, sentencing him to six months in prison with a suspended sentence and imposing a fine of 10,000 dirhams. Moreover, he has been ordered to pay damages amounting to 50,000 dirhams to the Kawkab Athlétique Club of Marrakech (KACM) following a complaint lodged by the club's management.

This ruling stems from a widely circulated video in which "Moul Lhout" made remarks that incited considerable controversy in the sports community, particularly following a match between Kawkab and Wydad de Casablanca during the previous season. Several members of the Marrakech club interpreted his comments as damaging to their reputation and undermining the integrity of the sporting competition.

In the video, the well-known fishmonger addressed a Wydad supporter, stating, "Congratulations on your victory, my regards to Dmii, I know why and he knows why too." This statement sparked outrage among many Kawkab supporters, who perceived it as casting doubts on the legitimacy of the match results.

Following the video's release, the Kawkab's management filed a complaint with the relevant judicial authorities. On May 18, the public prosecutor decided to pursue the matter while allowing "Moul Lhout" to remain free pending the trial.

The recent sentencing is not an isolated incident for "Moul Lhout", who has faced multiple judicial decisions in the past due to various complaints. In a prior case, he received a five-month suspended prison sentence, a fine of 1,500 dirhams, and was ordered to pay 40,000 dirhams in damages to teacher Abdelkrim Zahrat. Additionally, he was prohibited from engaging in social media activities for five years. In another case related to his social media content, he was ordered to compensate former gendarme Tahar Saadoun with 30,000 dirhams in damages.
