Shell's Strategic Deal in Morocco: A Game-Changer for the Energy Sector

Shell Reports Strong Q3 Performance and Secures Long-Term Agreements in Morocco

Shell, the global energy giant, announced an impressive adjusted profit of $10.8 billion for the third quarter of 2026, showcasing a robust operational performance bolstered by record-high refining margins. The company’s impressive financial results were complemented by the announcement of long-term supply agreements that promise to enhance its operational footprint in Morocco. Specifically, Shell Trading Rotterdam has engaged in a strategic long-term deal with Green Sky Manara, which involves the production of sustainable aviation fuel from a new facility planned for Port Nador in Morocco.

This agreement allows Shell exclusive rights to procure approximately 150,000 tons of sustainable aviation fuel annually, along with quantities of hydrous vegetable oil, bionaphtha, and biopropane. The facility is projected to commence operations in October 2028, marking a significant milestone in Shell's commitment to sustainability and renewable energy sources.

Further Expansion with LNG Supply Agreements

In addition to the sustainable fuel contracts, Shell Global LNG Limited has also confirmed a deal for the delivery of six LNG cargoes per year to Metlen, a contract that is set to last five years starting in 2027. This agreement will facilitate the supply of approximately 0.6 billion cubic meters annually, primarily sourced from Shell’s US LNG portfolio, aimed at meeting the demands of Greece and other European markets. These strategic moves not only reinforce Shell's commitment to expanding its energy solutions in Morocco but also highlight the company's strategic pivot towards more sustainable and renewable energy sources.

Looking ahead, investors are keenly analyzing Shell’s performance and the implications of these developments on future dividends. For the current quarter, Shell has declared an interim dividend of $0.3906 per ordinary share, with shares trading ex-dividend on November 12, 2026. The payable date is set for December 21, 2026. As the market watches these developments unfold, stakeholders are encouraged to reassess their positions in Shell, as the evolving landscape presents both opportunities and challenges.
