Al-Haouz Province Commemorates Historic Events with Development Initiatives
On the morning of November 6th, 2026, the Governor of Al-Haouz province, Mustafa Al-Maazah, presided over a ceremonial flag-raising event at the provincial headquarters. This occasion marked the first anniversary of Unity Day and the 51st anniversary of the triumphant Green March, a defining moment in Morocco's history. The ceremony was a heartfelt tribute to the values of unity and national pride that these events symbolize for the Moroccan people.
Following the ceremony, Governor Al-Maazah, accompanied by a delegation, proceeded to the Moulay Brahim commune. Their mission was to present a comprehensive rehabilitation program and to oversee various ongoing projects aimed at enhancing the area. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure effective recovery for regions impacted by the recent Al-Haouz earthquake, emphasizing respect for local characteristics and the historical and cultural heritage of the region.
This vital project operates under a partnership agreement involving several Moroccan ministries, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Equipment and Water, and the Ministry of National Land Use Planning, Urban Planning, Housing, and City Policy. Additionally, the Marrakech-Safi region, Al-Haouz province, the Moulay Brahim commune, and the local development company Marrakech Mobility are all key contributors to this initiative.
Moulay Brahim holds significant historical, spiritual, and cultural importance, and this project aims to restore damaged buildings, preserve the architectural identity of the area, improve living conditions for residents, and ensure the safety of infrastructure. The total cost of the program is approximately 120 million dirhams, with a timeline of 12 months set for the completion of the works from the date the agreement was signed.
This ambitious project represents a crucial step towards revitalizing Moulay Brahim as a spiritual and tourist destination, thereby enhancing the quality of life for its residents and visitors alike. During this field visit, Governor Al-Maazah was joined by heads of various administrative and security departments, regional parliamentarians, the regional council president, elected officials, and community leaders, all committed to the region's development and prosperity.
